Dr. Judith Reisman, Ph.D, has done extensive research that has developed the hypothesis that viewing sexual images will neuro-chemically fuse lust with anxiety, hate, fear and/or shame. Such imagery in the brain is mislabeled as mere “sexual arousal” when in fact it is the underlying scientifically demonstrable causative factor leading to the commission of violent sexual abuse by one person upon another. In other words, if validated the hypothesis proves that viewing pornography is indeed the “causative factor” that leads a person to commit sexual abuse upon a child or any other victim.

The Lighted Candle Society is now preparing to raise funds that will enable Dr. Reisman’s hypothesis to be validated scientifically. This research will seek to confirm data using MRI brain scans to prove that when the brain processes the imagery of pornography the effect is to destroy the capacity of the brain to maintain the inhibitors that prevent an individual from acting out the imagery conveyed to the brain by pornography. In essence. Dr. Reisman’s hypothesis will make it possible to prove actual brain damage to the viewer of pornography that is as significantly impairing to their health as if they were being fed a poisonous substance.

The confirmation of Dr. Reisman’s hypothesis would make it possible to impose legal and financial liability upon the producers and distributors of pornography for the literal damage their products have caused to the brain and intellect of the consumer. When that happens we will have destroyed the single most compelling factor for the production and distribution of pornography, which is the profit motive.
